I-Scream is the recording name of Nigerian-born poet, author, novelist, folklorist, and playwright whose real name is Rotimi Ogunjobi. The artist records mainly in the Dub Poetry genre and mainly in themes related to social activism. He uniquely recites his own poetry and also produces the backing music.
The artist takes primary musical inspiration from leaders of the Dub Poetry genre, such as Linton Kwesi Johnson, Oku Onuorah, Mutabaruka, Mad Professor, Lee Perry; however, he strives to create a unique voice that speaks mainly for the challenges faced by the underprivileged of Africa.
The artist, a fugitive from his erstwhile engineering profession is author of nearly 30 books in several genres.
